Trip ITINERARY

Days 1 & 2 | Country of the Moţi
Transfer form Oradea to the highlands of Apuseni. Your exploration trip will start with horse-cart journey to Tăuz water spring and Vîrtop Ice Cave. On the Ocoale plateau, learn about conservation initiatives in Apuseni Nature Park and visit Scărişoara Ice Cave, preserving an old 75.000 m3 ice deposit.

Days 3 | Country of the Motzi & Pădurea Craiului Mountains
We continue our caving exploration in Poarta lui Ionele cave and the entrace of Zgurăşti Cave, just a few other pieces of the same underground limestone puzzle. The day ends with a transfer to Pădurea Craiului Mountains.

Days 4 & 5 | Pădurea Craiului Mountains
As a first glimpse of The Prince’s Mountains, we suggest a visit into two protected areas: Meziad Cave - shelter of impressive bat colonies - and Grueţ Cave. Our adventure continues in Ciur Izbuc cave, an important archaeological site containing footprints of prehistoric man and cave bear skeletons.

Days 6 & 7 | Zece Hotare Limestone Plateau
Transfer to Zece Hotare area, where we will visit Batranului Cave., part of a large limetsone system in Padurea Craiului Mountains. The underground river that crosses the cave creates waterfalls and beautiful galleries. The next day we will hike down the plateau to visit Vantului cave, the longest cave in Romania, with a great diversity of speleothemes and gypsum forms.

Day 8 | Varciorog and Oradea
Transfer to Varciorog for a last visit – that of Osoi Cave – which uncovers large halls, beautiful speleothems and meandering galleries.
